Gratefulness is the key to a happy life that we hold in our hands, because if we are not grateful, then no matter how much we have we will not be happy…because we will always want to have something else or something more. David Stiendl-Rast

Back where we started our nomad adventure at the Caledon cabin in Ontario, five years ago.

We could never have guessed the events that transpired in the past 5 years. Our ‘plan’ was to build the US business and explore life in different places. A world wide pandemic and the worst business partner behavior were inconceivable. It was not always easy to be grateful.

Today, I am reminded of grateful living. Not all experiences are ones that I am grateful for – deceit and betrayal of the recent years has been challenging. These moments provided an opportunity for learning, growing and moving forward. And for this, I am grateful.

When it comes to life, the critical thing is whether you take this for granted, or with gratitude. C.K. Chesterton

Halloween 2020. Three years ago, we had terrible news delivered to us. My mate was diagnosed with cancer. He focused on researching his condition and the best options for treatment.

Since then, he has been through surgery, radiation and hormone therapy. All of this happening as we continued living as nomads. He entered the world of cancer without knowing much about it at all. Today, he continues to stay on top of the many treatment developments.

From what was then the worst day of my life to today… I am so grateful to be standing on the beach with MAO and taking this video.

Grateful for all the doctors and their teams that worked with him, for being in North America and having access to excellent care, for the gratitude we each have for life that carried us through the tough times, and for love.

On the road again…

The BreakersLeft Pompano Beach this morning via the scenic A1A, aka Ocean Drive.
A leisurely drive to West Palm Beach,
where we stopped for lunch at The Breakers.

This was our second time at the Breakers,
the first time a few years ago to see D+K.
The perfect place to stop,
as we were on our way to visit them.

Loved our moment with D+K and their family.
Such a joy to meet their grandkids,
and all the others – son, daughter, mom and son-in-law.

Grateful today for
our place on the beach – a perfect place for my mate to recover,
time to take leisurely drives,
and for D+K – Thank you so much for your hospitality and a lovely visit! xxoo

Nomad Life

A year ago, we began our nomad life.
Since then we have had 43 different stays.
43 times packing, schlepping, unpacking and getting settled in.

Each time, getting adjusted to a new kitchen, locating groceries, and making food.
Have bought 2 salad spinners, 2 blenders and 2 citrus squeezers,
Left 1 of each in different places…

As we travelled about, we continued working virtually…
Got through a cancer diagnosis, surgery and recovery,
And continue to move all things forward.

More stays coming up as we continue on our nomad path…

Grateful today for
all the love and support from friends and family,
staying connected virtually,
and for my MAO, who holds my paw everywhere we go.

Key West

2016-01-02

Last day in Key West…
At Pepe’s for breakfast, a brief rest…
and onto a fishing cruise.

Captain Cory makes fishing so easy!
So great to catch our dinner…
Back to Pepe’s after sunset for dinner.

Grateful today for
Key West…such a wonderful place,
loved being at Pepe’s and crushing it with Carter!
and for Pepe’s – loved every meal we had, and the people we met…
Thanks so much for cooking the fish we caught.
Hope to be back soon. xxoo
