The pessimist complains about the wind; the optimist expects it to change; the realist adjusts the sails. – William Arthur Ward
A plan for 18 holes of golf becomes questionable just before the 9th hole.
The previous 7 holes were played well, with the exception of one big blow up on the 5th.
Seeing the dark clouds, and feeling the strong winds rapidly cooling the air, MAO hits a beautiful drive.
We both hit our second shots when we start to feel raindrops and wind gusts speeding by.
A pause to watch the weather, and then we play out the hole.
A par for MAO, and we move onto number 9.
We play 9 and our match ends in a tie.
Time to go home.
Looking like there will be more rain, and the storm shutters are not down.
Glad to get home as the weather is shifting as the wind howls.
Grateful for
the good shots played by each of us,
the support and encouragement we give one another, even as we battle it out in our match,
and for knowing when to pick up the ball and go home.
