Cooking is at once child’s play and adult joy. And cooking done with care is an act of love. – Craig Claiborne
After breakfast, we checked out of the hotel and headed to PAT supermarket for Korean groceries. One week living out of a hotel had me really missing being able to cook – even with so many great restaurants at our fingertips in the city.
From PAT, we made our way to the No Frills conveniently across the street from the condo, picking up everything we needed for granola and Hope’s lunches.
Once we were settled in, I went straight to work: two batches of granola – one with nuts, one without, for Hope’s allergy – and then a kimchi jjigae for dinner with Hope and MAO.
The store-bought kimchi and barchan weren’t the tastiest we’ve had, but I was just glad to be able to get them at all, and to be cooking a real meal again.
With leftovers on hand, later in the week I was thrilled to add a Japanese beef curry to the mix for a Korean feast with Erica. So nice to cook for a friend and catch up over a meal in.
Grateful for the cooking I’ve been doing, and for how much I love it. And oh so grateful to the Cosmics for letting us stay in their condo and use their kitchen!
