No matter how much we love a book, the experience of reading it isn’t complete until we can give it to someone who will love it as much as we do. – Ann Patchett
One year ago I received a text that began the 3M (Mary, Michelle & me) conversation. Mary reached out about a book she’d recently read, Sandwich, and we’ve been talking books ever since – including reading one at the same time.
These 12 books are the ones I’ve read most recently; the previous 12 were finished back in February. Of this batch, 7 were Ann Patchett selections – including Whistler, her own newest release, which happened to be the one we all read together. Two were Young Adult titles I read before passing them along to my nephews, and 3 were random picks.
Some books inspire – Joyride left me in awe of just how much goes into writing a book. Some sparks questions to ask in the 3M conversation – Buckeye had us all asking who we’d want to have a drink with. And some just entertain. It’s been a great year of reading, and I would never have read this much without the 3M ongoing conversation.
Grateful for all the incredible authors – what a truly amazing thing it is to write a book! And grateful for Ann Patchett’s Parnassus First Edition Club, through which I’m reading titles I never would have chosen for myself.
