Perhaps this is the official end of our nomad years.
In 2017, we sold our townhouse in downtown Toronto, got married after twenty years together and set off into nomad life. All our things went into storage in a container at Idlewild.
Since then, we’ve travelled extensively across the US, along with international trips to St Lucia, South Korea, Spain, Portugal, Morocco, and New Zealand. Somewhere in the middle of it all, we bought a condo in Naples, FL and would return to Ontario each late spring and summer – often booking vacation rentals, and just as often scrambling to find alternate accommodations when those rentals fell through.
Today we closed on a real estate deal. We now have an Ontario base to call home.
After four or five years of looking – and swearing every year that we wouldn’t look again – here it is: a move-in ready home that is the perfect size for the two of us.
Grateful for all the adventures we’ve had on our nomad path, and for every friend who let us stay in their place, often on short notice. Grateful to the country mice to letting us keep our container at Idlewild all these years. And so grateful to have finally found a home that works for us – in size, location and budget.
