Take care of your body. It’s the only place you have to live. – Jim Rohn
Back in June when we realized the Airbnb wasn’t going to work out and we’d be staying at maoVee, we joined a big gym. Two good reasons: it was an excellent opportunity to put some real time into our bodies, and the sauna, steam room and shower make for a pretty luxurious end to a workout.
June was a great month. July was solid too – until the two-plus weeks in downtown Toronto, where the intention to keep working out was very much there and the follow through was very much not. The August arrived with a new house and a move, which didn’t help the routine either. And now it is near the end of September.
The list of things that can derail a gym habit is apparently endless.
We ended up cancelling the big gym membership – a 40 minute drive is not conducive to anything regular – and switched to the Stratford YMCA. As MAO put it: 50 lbs here or there is the same 50 lbs.
The routine hasn’t fully taken root yet, but I’ve been at least once a week. And when I’m there, it’s a solid 75-80 minutes of cardio, strength training and stretches. Good to be getting back to it. Nothing like a proper sweat!
Grateful for tracking my workouts with Ava – Ava Irving is my name for AI tools – the logging, and tracking genuinely help. Grateful for the YMCA, a great place to work out at a fraction of the old cost. And so grateful for exercise days. My body thanks me!
