Konichiwa Tokyo!

Morning coffee with Matthew…and then off to the airport.
2 hours later we arrive at Narita.
After an hour and a half on the airport limousine, we are at our hotel.

Delighted to discover that the Tokyo Jazz Fest is on for the next 2 days!
Even more magical, I run into Omara Portuondo…
a Buena Vista Social Club singer I photographed during a rehearsal and performance in Havana.

Checked in, we wander out to find a bite to eat.
My mate finds a great spot to have a bite and we continue wandering around the streets of ShinJuku.
Without a guide or a map, we find ourselves wandering through the red light district,
and then into the Golden Gai – a wild area of 200 tiny little bars.

Grateful today for
our South Korean adventure – so glad my Korean was able to get us around easily,
a safe arrival in Tokyo,
and for magic…everywhere.
