Arrived in Wellington just in time for our private Māori guided tour of Te Papa Museum.
It was an incredibly informative and moving experience. Hearing personal experiences from Angela, Dutch father and Māori mother, made this tour a highlight of our trip.

Two nights in a hotel with an extensive contemporary art collection, lots of walking in Wellington and great meals.

Hello Napier!

Staying 3 nights at a lovely Bed & Breakfast (remember that type of accommodation?!?). Our hosts are really terrific. Continental and cooked breakfasts in the morning. Five o’clock drinks…and many interesting conversations.

An earthquake and fire wiped out Napier in 1931. Today there is extensive Art Deco architecture.

As we toured, we heard we were in the ‘fruit bowl’ of NZ. Vineyards, orchards and the farmers’ market were the sources of our breakfast fruits and jams.

A long drive south to our next destination, Rotorua. The vistas continue to delight.
We share the driving - total of 5 hours.

Our next stay is for 4 nights at a delightful spot. A cabin overlooking a volcanic lake, with miniature ponies, 🫏, 🐑, and 🦆.

Could not have been in a cozier place when the stormy weather blew in!

So grateful to On the Point for the first rate service and incredible food! Truly an incredible spot. 🙏

Rental vehicle picked up and we are heading north.

Rental vehicle picked up and we are heading north. My mate is an excellent driver. He has also selected a perfect spot to stop for lunch to view sculpture gardens and galleries.

We stop at a lookout point - so many incredible views along the highway. My brain is exploding!

A few nights with the beach outside our door. Lovely. Always fun to be in a beach resort town.

Made extra kimchi to try dehydrating it. Took quite some time to be completely dried.
Pretty tasty!

Once that was done, I was onto the next kimchi dish - Kimchi Ramen from scratch, with @momofukugoods noodles.
